CARE & MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
Doric Marble gives the following warranty to the purchaser in respect of stone manufacturing works for
a period of 12 MONTHS.
All works are manufactured and installed in accordance with industry standards.
This includes:
with the exception of structural building movement, opening of joins and stone becoming loose.
This excludes:
1) Wear and Tear 2) Cracking of the stone 3) Scratching of the stone 4) Staining of the stone
NATURAL STONE (MARBLE & GRANITE)
With the exercise of a little care and effort your stone should last you a lifetime and stay looking good.
Stone is naturally a porous and permeable material allowing the penetration of liquids and other sUbstances.
Therefore all natural stone supplied by Doric Marble is treated with a sealer called "LlTHOFIN STAIN STOP".
Lithofin is a permanent one off application product that need not be reapplied. Although designed to minimise
staining it cannot be guaranteed to prevent stains in all situations.
Ensure that oils and other substances are not left on the stone for lengthy periods of time as penetration
from the surface may still occur even though sealer has been applied. Certain stones, especially lighter
colours are quite absorbent, therefore avoid substances such as:
coffee, wine, lemon juice, coca cola, beetroot etc. as these may affect the finished surface causing
dulling or staining depending on the type of stone.
For further protection of polished stone it is recommended that a liquid wax be applied to the surface.
It is recommended that wax be re-applied by the owners every six (6) to twelve (12) months. Liquid Wax is
available for purchase from most tile shops.
Cleaning of stone should only be carried out with warm and mildly soapy water and then dried with a clean
dry cloth. Do not use any scourers or harsh detergents as this may damage the finished surface.
Never place extremely hot items such as roast trays or saucepans on stone surfaces as this may cause
thermal shock and thus result in the stone cracking. This has even occurred in rare situations on extremely
hot days with direct sunlight.
Avoid using electric frying pans or similar directly over the stone without using a heat mat.
Stone benchtops should never be stepped or knelt on especially near the hotplate or sink edges as
this will result in cracking of the benchtop. Stone benchtops will not spontaneously crack unless a force of
some sort is applied and almost always any cracking ever occurring is for reasons as outlined above.
Doric Marble will not take responsibility for benchtops resulting in cracks. In most cases cracked benchtops
can only be made good by replacing the benchtop.
Be careful of activity that may scratch benchtop surfaces i.e. (Other trades) as this may result in scratching
of the surface. It is quite often impossible to successfully polish scratches from benchtop surfaces on site.
Any non warranty maintenance callouts by Doric Marble will be charged on an hourly basis.
RECONSTITUTED STONE
Quartz based Reconstituted Stone is a man made stone based product. Unlike natural stone such as
marble and granite, reconstituted stone products such as Silestone etc. are sold as non permeable,
meaning they will not readily stain. Hence they are not required to be sealed. Even though this may be
the case it is still recommended that care be taken as per "marble & granite" above as on rare occasions
some reconstituted stones have been known to stain with various substances if left on for to long.
To clean quartz reconstituted stone use JIFF or a similar product called GUMPTION available through
local Supermarkets. Apply sparingly and rub on with water using a worn green scourer sponge using light
to medium pressure. Wash off with damp cloth and wipe dry.
Care instructions for hot items, cracking and scratching are as per marble & granite above.
Reconstituted stone is also available in a marble based material and this should be treated as per natural marble above.
